Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive Gb Edition
by , on
It's been another banner year for the Porsche 911 as it continues to uphold its reputation as the company's most popular and most iconic model. This year, Porsche seeks to add to the growing legend of the 911 by giving customers in the UK a special treat, the special-edition 911 Turbo S that's been christened the Exclusive GB Edition.
These are the kind of special edition models that leave a mark on a lot of people. One big reason for that is because it's a Porsche 911 Turbo S. Another reason is because it's limited to just one market. But the most important reason is that there are only 40 models available.
The number 40 wasn't just a random choice, rather is an important number for the 911 because 2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the model. If Porsche intended the 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition to be a celebratory "thank you" to its British customers, then those folks are a lucky bunch.
The Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition is only available in the UK, if that wasn't clear enough. That's tough beans for us here in the US. Here's the catch, though. This exclusive limited edition model costs £150,237, which is about $257,400 based on current exchange rates.

The exterior of the Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition doesn't carry a lot of aesthetic additions, other than the black-finished exterior door handles, SportDesign wing mirrors, a 'Porsche" script that runs along the side sills, and a choice of three colors, including GT Silver Metallic, White, and Guards Red. Also included is a black upper spoiler on the rear and a new set of black Sport Classic wheels.
It's an admittedly subdued exterior that's not what we would've expected for a special-edition 911 Turbo S. Thankfully, the interior upgrades more than make up for it.
Interior
Step inside the cabin and the first thing that'll greet you is the black leather trim that's contrasted y Guards Red stitching.
If you can get past the lack of shiny new additions to the exterior of the 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition, you should find the interior a little more to your liking.
Step inside the cabin and the first thing that'll greet you is the black leather trim that's contrasted by Guards Red stitching. That immediately sets the tone for the interior treatment. The same Guards Red stitching can be found on the SportDesign steering wheel, the seat belts, and the bespoke floor mats, further establishing a look that's in line with one of Porsche's most unique color offerings.
Carbon fiber is another material used extensively on the interior, making appearances on the PDK gear lever and the chrome logo on the dash insert. Likewise, personalized carbon-fiber door sill guards with "911 Turbo S – Exclusive GB Edition" in illuminated lettering can be found when you open the door of the sports car, signifying the true special edition nature of this model.
Finally, the storage compartment lid was decorated with an embossed Union Jack flag to go along with an embossed Porsche crests on the head restraints. These two details further highlight the model's exclusive tag, or at least justifying exactly why Porsche decided to make it a UK-exclusive model.
Drivetrain
There aren't any performance upgrades, but Porsche isn't the type to go that extra mile when it comes to some of its special edition models.
The Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition is powered by a 3.8-liter, turbocharged, flat-six engine that produces a tidy 560 horsepower. With that kind of output, the special edition 911 Turbo S is capable of hitting 62 mph in just 3.1 seconds to go with an incredible top speed of 197 mph.
There aren't any performance upgrades, but Porsche isn't the type to go that extra mile when it comes to some of its special edition models. That being said, the 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition remains gorgeous and powerful, a must-score for any Porsche-loving Englishman across the Atlantic.
Prices
If you want to ride in style, you have to pay for that privilege. The Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition qualifies as a showpiece purchase, which is why it comes with a price tag of £150,237. That's about $257,400 based on the exchange rates on 715/2014.
Porsche is only releasing 40 units of this 911 Turbo S, making it that much more difficult to buy. It's available for order as of 7/15/2014, so if any of our UK friends are reading this, hurry up!
Those who buy one will also receive a personal photo book documenting the production process, a bespoke Exclusive GB Edition indoor car cover, and unique design sketches.
Competition
Nissan GT-R
The Nissan GT-R is one of the few sports cars that can stare down the Porsche 911 Turbo S and live to tell about it.
Every year, Nissan brings something new to the table when it comes to Godzilla. The 2015 model is no different, thanks to changes made to the its suspension system. Other than that, its more of the same dose of awesomeness for the car with the coolest nickname in the business.
The 2015 GT-R is powered by a 3.8-liter, V-6 engine that produces 545 horsepower and 463 pound-feet of torque, allowing the car to hit 60 mph in just three seconds to go with a top speed of 196 mph.
Aston Martin Vantage V12
The Aston Martin Vantage V12 is a hell of sports car in its own right. Some people might even prefer this piece of British sexy over the 911 Turbo S, and who are we to argue?
The Vantage hasn't changed its look all that much over the years, retaining that classy look that speaks to Aston Martin's timeless aesthetic appeal.
The Vantage V12 comes with a 6.0-liter, V-12 engine that develops 510 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. That gives it the legs to hit 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds to go with a top speed of 190 mph. It's not as fast as the 911 Turbo S or the GT-R, but it should still make for a compelling race.
Conclusion
Unfortunately, the Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition isn't making its way onto U.S. soil anytime soon. Luckily, 40 British customers will have the treat of owning one.
We're trying not to get too envious here, but its hard not to because this is the 911 Turbo S we're talking about. And a special-edition one at that.
The interior upgrades are top quality, despite being rather limited. Not that it matters anyways, as any special-edition 911 is likely to receive heaps of praise from us.
Maybe next time, Porsche will send over a U.S. Edition...
